BELFAIR
Touted
as the "Gateway to Hood Canal", the town of Belfair is located
on State Route 3 midway between Bremerton and Kitsap County to the north
and Shelton to the south. As the largest designated urban growth
area in the north end of Mason County, Belfair shares many of it's best
features under the broader heading of "North Mason".

Belfair enjoys the status of ongoing and increasing recognition as the
"Home of the Hood Canal/Theler Wetlands." Last year over 150,000
visitors strolled, jogged, sauntered or wandered blissfully on a four-mile
trail system that offers both educational and recreational opportunities.
In competition with other waterfront projects world-wide, the Hood
Canal/Theler Wetlands Trail System in Belfair was chosen for the honor of
receiving the "Excellence on the Waterfront" award - a
prestigious award given by the Waterfront Center in Washington, D.C. and
one that is reserved for exceptionally wonderful waterfronts.

Belfair is also currently experiencing a boom in economic development and new construction, which brings additional services and shopping to North Mason residents.
The Belfair area serves up a daily dose of scenery much appreciated by its residents and visitors and includes the sky blue waters of Hood Canal backed by the majestic Olympic Mountains and a population of coniferous and deciduous trees that rivals the greenery of any St. Paddy’s holiday.
A local summertime festival dubbed "The Taste of Hood Canal" occurs each August with a focus on fresh seafood and live street-side entertainment. The Belfair Farmers Market celebrated its 10th anniversary this year and proudly offers a wide variety of homegrown and homemade items. Modern and progressive, the North Mason Timberland Library serves the entire area and is a cornerstone of the Belfair community.

Celebrated for its legendary community pride, the friendly village of Allyn is located four miles south of Belfair on State Route 3 along the innermost shores of Case Inlet’s North Bay on South Puget Sound. On sunny days, residents enjoy an unobstructed view of 14,410 foot Mt. Rainier as it looms on Allyn's southeast horizon. Downtown Allyn features a shopping center, a modern post office, the "world’s largest chainsaw carving
outlet," a grocery store, two restaurants, an RV park and emergency services. Planning is underway for a new 38-unit upscale waterfront hotel to be built in Allyn's near future.
The Port of Allyn operates from an attractive two-story building overlooking the Allyn Waterfront Park and Gazebo and the historic Allyn Pier, first built in 1922 and recently revamped to offer a pump-out station and guest moorage. Public boat launching is also available. Just south of town on Highway 3 before the Grapeview Loop Road, the Port is developing its North Bay Kayak Park, which will offer launching and picnicking facilities with an annual Kayak Festival to be held in late summer.

Since its establishment in 1986, the Allyn Community Association (ACA) has increased its involvement and presence through active citizen committees for town beautification, salmon enhancement and village planning. Publication of its own monthly newsletter "The North Bay Review." commenced in 1996 and is still going strong with a circulation of 3,300. The town’s beautiful gazebo was constructed through the efforts of the ACA and is the site of the annual Allyn Days Festival & Salmon Bake, held the third weekend in July for the past 20 years.
LakeLand Village, a residential golf community, occupies 900 acres within the Allyn Urban Growth Area on the hillside overlooking the town’s core. This unique community was established by a local family in 1965 and has grown steadily over the years into one of North Mason’s premiere neighborhoods. LakeLand Village offers three distinctive nine-hole golf courses open to the public, a clubhouse and well-stocked pro shop, a small intimate bistro-style restaurant and several driving ranges. Anderson Lake, a private 55-acre fishing, swimming and boating lake is stocked each year with trout and features lakeside docks, picnic areas and playgrounds.

More of a neighborhood than a town or a village, the community of Grapeview is centered
about five miles down the Grapeview Loop Road where you’ll find the country store, the local
fire hall and the post office. Central to that location also is the picturesque bridge to Stretch Island, which arches over the shimmering salt waters of Case Inlet and takes you to the waterfront rural serenity experienced only by the lucky souls who reside here. Just a few miles beyond the store is Fair Harbor Marina, locally-owned and offering moorage, fuel and other boating amenities year-round.
